(f+g)(x) means the sum of functions f(x) and g(x).

(f+g)(x)= f(x)+g(x) \\ \\ = (x)/(2)-2+2 x^(2) +x-3 \\ \\ =2 x^(2) + (3x)/(2)-5

Hence, option B gives the correct sum of the given functions.
