This process aids in the synthesis of chemical product known as glucose (carbohydrate) by trapping the sunlight by chlorophyll present in the leaves. Along with sunlight photosynthesis requires carbon dioxide, soil and water.

The product produced is transported to various parts of the plant and stored in the form of starch ( carbohydrate) which is an organic compound.
