Angle bisector theorem:
CD/DB=AC/AB
Replacing the known values:
2/DB=5.9/8.1
Solving for DB. Cross multiplication:
(2)(8.1)=(5.9)(DB)
16.2=5.9DB
Dividing both sides by 5.9
(16.2)/5.9=(5.9DB)/5.9
2.745762712=DB
DB=2.745762712
Rounded to one decimal place:
DB=2.7

Answer: The length of BD is 2.7
