The entropy of the universe is continually increasing. The second law of thermodynamic states that for any spontaneous process, the entropy of the universe increases. Spontaneous processes are irreversible. As a result of all spontaneous processes, the entropy of the universe increases. It increases with the number of microstates in the system.
