Karl Marx predicted that the a laissez faire capitalism system would ultimately result in the equal distribution of wealth and income. Marx made this conclusion based on his understanding of the economy.
Marx felt that in a capitalist society, two classes would emerge. This would include a wealthier class (known as the bourgeoisie ) and a working class class (known as the proletariat) . Eventually, he predicted, the working class would be repressed enough to the point where they would revolt against the wealthier class. This would then result in a system similar to communism, in which their is an equal distribution of wealth. This idea is known as Marxism.
