The Speaker of the House is the name of the officer that presides over the House of Representatives. This position was established by the United States Constitution under Article 1 Section 2. The Speaker of the House is part of the line of succession in case the president dies. If the president and vice-president die, than the Speaker of the House becomes US President. Along with these, he/she oversees the House of Representatives.
