the answer is m = 2
First minus 8x on both sides which makes it -4y = -8x +12
the divide -4 on both sides which makes it
y = 2x - 3
y = 2x - 3 is the same equation on the graph.

Answer:

The value of m that will create a system of parallel lines with no solution is:

m = 2

Step-by-step explanation: (according to the picture y= mx - 6)

Parallel lines with no solution happen whenever two lines have the same slope and different x and y intercepts.

(1) y= my - 6

(2) 8x - 4y= 12

First rearrange the equation 2 to get it in the form y=mx+b

-4y = -8x + 12

Divide both sides by -4

y = 2x - 3

Now m represents the slope and b represents the y-intercept (this can be verified looking at the graph)

Therefore equation 1 needs to have the same m value, in other words, the slopes should be the same.

m= 2

y= 2x - 6

Hint: slope- given two points (Xi, Yi) and (Xj, Yj) the slope will be(
(Yi-Yj)/(Xi-Xj))
