Explanation: The hormone calcitonin is also known as thyrocalcitonin which is secreted by parenchymal cells (of the functional or specialized tissue of an organ), that serves to regulate blood calcium and phosphate metabolism. Calcitonin decreases the concentration of calcium in the blood once activated which helps lowers calcium concentrations to within normal levels.it also lowers the concentration of blood phosphorus.

Calcitonin hormone can be found in humans, birds, fish and even reptiles.

Injections of Calcitonin are used to treat patients suffering from mania and might even be used on patients of bipolar disorder
