What numbers would be used to get the variable by itself in the equation 6x = 18?

[Here is how I got this answer. 6x=18. Divide both sides by 6 to get the x alone. 6x/6=x. 18=6=3. Now that we have gotten x alone on one side, and 18 has divided by 6 to get 3, we now conclude that the answer would be x=3.]
