Why is x = 4 a solution to the proportion 14/x=56/16?

If you plug in 4 for x, then divide each side, the two sides will be equal. The right side top and bottom numbers are proportionate to those on the left because 14 * 4= 56 and 4 * 4= 16. The right side is just a multiple of 4 of the left side. 4 goes into 14 three and a half times, so 16 will go into 56 three and a half times too.

14/4 = 56/16
3.5= 3.5

Hope this helps! :)

cuz 14/4 and 56/16 are equal ... just divide both of them and you get 3.5 for both

if you multiply both the denomintor and numerator of 14/4 by 4 you get 56/16 so that's how u know they're equal because if you multiply both by the same number you should get a fraction equal to that one

idk I'm new to this app just checking it out
