The body mass index (BMI) of an adopted child will be dissimilar to the BMI of the adoptive parents and similar to the BMI of the biological parents. Basal metabollic index is a measure of the amount of energy the body requires to perform its normal activities or functions while at rest. A child and the biological parent may share similar BMI since they have some similar genetic characteristics.
