To find the surface area of each block you will find the areas of all 6 faces by using the formula for finding the area of a rectangle.

Top/Bottom- 8 x 4 = 32
32 x 2 =64 square cm

Front/back- 8 x 5 = 40
40 x 2 = 80 square cm

Side/Side- 4 x 5 = 20
20 x 2 = 40 square cm

64 + 80 + 40 = 184 square cm

The surface area of each block is 184 square cm.
