challenging laws which infringe on constitutional rights--The ACLU has fought many court cases in the name of civil liberties which has cause the government to overturn or create laws.
The ACLU has been active since 1920 with the Scopes Trial being its first famous case. The case fought to secure the rights of those in public schools to learn all information and to not allow states to push only religious thinking in public schools.
