How did stalin’s changes in agriculture lead to a famine?

the collectivization by the bolsheviks was not received very well by the peasant farmers who would better destroy their crops or kill their animals rather than have them confiscated. in addition, the was drought in the 1930's that led to more problem. The system also led to laziness.
