First, Aniline is converted into Diazonium salt through Diazotization reaction, the salt formed it reacted with CuCN and KCN and is transformed into Cyanobenzene. Cyanobenzene is reduced to Benzylamine by reacting it with LiAlH₄ or H₂ in the presence of catalyst. The overall reaction is shown below,
