The right atrium receives oxygen-poor blood from the body and pumps it to the right ventricle. The right ventricle pumps the oxygen-poor blood to the lungs where they are oxygenated.

The ventricle is the part of the heart which functions by pumping blood. There are two ventricles, the right ventricle and the left ventricle. The right ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs while the left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood to the body.
