Let us first convert the fraction to a decimal

-5 (5)/(6)= (35)/(6) = - 5.833..

Comparing - 5.83 and - 5.8 on a positive number line would prove that 5.83 is greater.
However, since both are negative - 5.83 is less than - 5.8 because - 5.83 is to the left in a number line.

So the answer is No,

Since

-5 5/6 = -5.83333....

and

-5.8 > -5.83333....

no, it is not.
