In 2003 u.s. soldiers abused iraqi prisoners held at abu ghraib, 20 miles west of baghdad. the prisoners were stripped, made to wear bags over their heads, and sexually humiliated while the guards laughed and took photographs. how is this abuse similar to or different from what took place in the stanford prison experiment?

During the Stanford experiment guards and prisoners were randomly chosen. They developed roles as officers who applied authoritarian measures by subjecting prisoners to psychological torture. This was similar when the U.S soldiers subjected the Iraqi soldiers to humiliation at Abu Ghraib. The prisoners accepted psychological abuses where U.S soldiers photographed and took pictures of the Iraqi soldiers which was similarly done to prisoners of the Stanford experiment where certain portions of the experiment were filmed.
