This is an opinionated question but I would say that it was completely right for antislavery supporters in Kansas to start a rival government because
1. Slavery is wrong and should’ve been condemned
2. If democracy isn’t listening to your views and ideals, you shouldn’t be forced to side with the government
3. Democracy allows free speech and civil disobedience
