As President, Jimmy Carter tried to bring peace between the countries of Israel and Egypt. In order to do this, he had the leaders of both countries come to Camp David as a place to negotiate. This presidential hide out in Maryland allowed for a secret meeting of these two individuals with conflicting ideas.

However, after 12 days of secret meetings, there was an agreement made by Israel and Egypt. This laid the foundation for a permanent peace between these two countries. This event is now known as the Camp David Accords.
