By the end of the play, Everyman learns that every man is alone.

Everyman learns he can take nothing with him as he travels into the next world. Not family, not friends, not even knowledge or material goods can go with him. It is a journey he must make alone.

The only thing that counts are good deeds -- nothing else matters.

He has learned that he cannot depend on his own wordly characteristics, like his strength, beauty, ect. he has learned to put his whole soul into God. He learns that when he is judged by God, and when he is alone, save for Good-Deeds. He learns that we must make “amends” before death, in order to gain God’s mercy and to clear our reckoning.
