The trapezoid is shown in the picture attached.

Note that the two shaded areas are two triangles rectangle with legs 1.1 in and 3.8 in.

The area of a triangle rectangle can be found by the formula:
A = L × l ÷ 2
= 3.8 × 1.1 ÷ 2
= 2.09 in²

Since the area is composed by two identical triangles, the total shaded area will be:
A = 2.09 × 2 = 4.18 in²

Therefore, the correct answer is B) 4.18 square inches
