intercept ⇒ when f(x) = 0

f(x) = 3x² - 12x - 1

3x² - 12x - 1 = 0

x = (-b\pm √(b^2 - 4ac) )/(2a)

x = (-(-12)\pm √((-12)^2 - 4(3)(-1)) )/(2(3))

x = 4.08 \ or \ x= -0.08

Answer: The two x-intercepts are (4.08, 0) and (-0.08, 0)
