The men who would normally fill the jobs were fighting in the war, so the women had to fill their roles working outside of the home in factories. This gave them more freedom and power in the world because they were making a living for themselves as well as providing materials for the war.

During WW II women were able to get more jobs because they had helped the war by creating ammunition, etc.
