when the action of the story takes a turn

The climax happens at the most exciting part of the story, when all of the action begins coming to a head. At that highest point, there is nowhere for the story to go but down, meaning that things start getting resolved and the action slows to a more calm pace. This point where everything starts to turn marks the climax.
