Reconstructive surgeons needing to remove stagnant blood and dead tissues from a flap fingers use annelids such as leech. The leech anesthetize the wound and produce an anticoagulant effect that keep blood from clotting, providing continues blood flow during reattaching of fingers. In addition, leeches also reduce the scarring of wound.
