The first thing we are going to do for this case is to define a variable.
We have then:
x: number of minutes
y: number of miles traveled.
The equation that models this problem is given by:

y = - (1.45 / 20) x + 5.3
(-1.45 / 20): is the speed with which Nancy runs
5.3: is the length of the path.
Answer:
an addition equation to find how much farther Nancy has to run to complete the trail is:

y = -(1.45/20)x + 5.3
