Tiffany plans to use $275 she earned from a summer job to buy some new clothes for school. She found several items she likes but is trying to decide if she has enough money to buy all of them. She wants to buy three pairs of jeans for $42 each and five shirts with an average cost of $27 per shirt.

She will have to pay 6.5 % sales tax.

If she buys all of these items, how much tax will she have to pay?

it will be 6.69 because you add it all up and make the percentage into a decimal and multiply

Solution:

Three pairs of jeans for $42 each.

Total cost of Jeans
=3*42=126 $

Five shirts with an average cost of $27 per shirt.

Total cost of shirts
=5*27=135 $

Total amount payable for Jeans and shirts
=126+135=261 $

Tax payable =6.5 % .

Net payable amount
=261+261*0.065=261+16.965=277.965

So if she buy all item then tax payable=16.965 =17$

She doesn't have the sufficient fund.
