Did the united states learn from past mistakes at the end of world war 2

You could say that they did. Before world war 1 they were against joining forces with Europeans and making a worldwide organization to protect people from wars which was the League of Nations, however, after World War 2, they realized that isolationism was bad for them so they decided to help form the United Nations and nourish the idea of international cooperation.
