Healthcare associated or nosocomial pneumonia are acquired by non-hospitalized patients in hospitals or other health care facilities. Pneumonia are poly-microbial in origin and the causative agents are viruses, bacteria and fungi. In nosocomial pneumonia, bacteria enter the lower respiratory tract due to mechanical ventilation. Meanwhile, persons in general population experience community-acquired pneumonia.
