Tickets to a local movie were sold at $4.00 for adults and $2.50 for students. If 287 tickets were sold for a total of $1107.50, how many adult tickets were sold?

Adults: $4.00

Children : $2.50

Total: $1107.50

To find this you need to to take the total price of the sold tickets and divide by $4.00.

1107.50 / 4.00 = 276.875

There were about 276 adult tickets sold. ( can't have .875 of a person -_- )
