Is hemochromatosis cured by gastric bypass?

For many decades, Phlebotomy (maintenance phlebotomy) has been the standard treatment of hemochromatosis, although there are not enough studies addressing the main issues surrounding this therapy. However, since bariartic surgery (involving gastric bypass) can induce an iron deficiency, some researchers have argued that it could represent a novel intervention in the management (not cure) of hemochromatosis (especially for obese patients).
