We were sure that the soviets were not intelligent enough to build their own atomic bomb. we felt vindicated when klaus fuchs, the rosenbergs and several others were convicted as spies. how did these events help/hurt the red scare mood?

It further escalate and deepen the mood of the red scare because the people underestimated the Russians capacity and when the Russians was able to build an atomic bomb it scares a lot of the people and the spies that was caught instigated the scare more and more.
