The correct answer is social influence

There was high discrimination among these groups which was mostly based on tradition that the two groups had way back even before they reached the United States and these ideas on discriminating others would be passed down from generation to generation. Scots and Irish herders were not in good relations for numerous reasons such as political, historical, religious, and similar.
