In terms of success, you could say the United States was more successful during this period. This is because they put into place several different policies that helped to achieve their goal of stopping communism from spreading into Western Europe. Thanks to laws like the Truman Doctrine and Marshall Plan, the US was able to give billions of dollars worth of financial assistance to countries struggling financially after World War II. These countries aided did not fall under the communist regime of the Soviet Union.
Along with this, the United States was able to create North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) during this period as well. This helped them to create permanent military, economic, and political allies to aid in their mission of stopping the spread of communism.
