He connected with Native American tribes and the Spanish.

Pike's expeditions sent him into the new Louisiana territory discovering the beginning location of the Mississippi and moving present day Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico. He was able to create contact with Native Americans to trade items the French had trade before especially fur. He also helped to make contact with the Spanish in the current US Southwest.
