The Bubonic Plague also was known as The Black Plague/Death caused a dramatic decline in the population of Europe in the 1300s. It might have killed as much as 50% of the population of Europe and kept coming back for each generation for hundreds of years. And the decline population caused declined economic production due to unemployement.

Good luck :)
