Normally when the nerve impulse reaches the axon tip then it is ready to pass on to the next structure, therefore if the tips of the interneurons axon were damaged then it means the process of transmission from the axon to the next structure will not take place. Interneurons relays signals between the sensory neurons and the motor neurons, therefore with damaged tips the relay of information between the sensory neurons and motor neurons will  not take place.
