Ms Peterson wrote the expression below on the chalkboard for her class. She asked the students to write an equivalent expression using no more than one set of parenthesis.

4(3x+5y+2z)+3(x-z)
Tom wrote 12x+20y+8z
Jenna wrote 5(3x+4y+z)
Chris wrote 15x+20y-5z
Which,if any, of the three students wrote an equivalent expression to Ms Peterson’s expression?

I think it would be either Jenna or Chris. If you HAVE to use a set of parentheses then it's Jenna but if not, I think it could be either one.

4(3x + 5y +2z) + 3(x - z) =
(12x + 20y + 8z) + (3x - 3z) =
(15x + 20y + 5z) = that is the answer but you can still simplify it so:
5(3x + 4y + z)
therefore the only correct person on the list is Jenna.
