Use algebra, let x = 3.152 (repeating)
Then 1000x = 3152.152 (repeating)

Subtract the two:
1000x - x = 999x
3152.152 (repeating) - 3.152 (repeating) = 3149

So:
999x = 3149
x = 3149/999
