The 1st amendment guarantees freedom of press. Why would the Supreme Court allow the government to limit this freedom?

Too much freedom will eventually lead to chaos. For example, in religious freedom, a street preacher may be arrested for trying to promote his religion. Freedom of speech can lead to arrest because it could contain explicit content or hate speech. This isn't exact but hope it helps. :)

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution prevents Congress from making any law respecting an establishment of religion.
