Answer: The Underground Railroad was a series of houses intended to help runaway slaves on their way to freedom. On the way these slaves would hide under false floor, in false walls, In basements, and many other creative spots to hide from their owners. Many slaves used this to escape to freedom but it was dangerous. Slaves could only move at night from house to house without the help of lights for fear of being caught. Many slaves used this route to escape, one such slave was Harriet Tubman who helped others on the route too.
