Foreign policy is any government policy that concerns foreign countries and events taking place outside the United States: for example, making an alliance with a foreign country, fighting a war overseas, or entering into a trade agreement with another country. The foreign policy thus deals with foreign affairs or international relations. These terms refer to relations between independent countries all around the world. Control over foreign policy is actually exercised by two branches of our federal government: the Presidency and Congress.
