The given equations are:

1) x = 12+ y

2) 4x + 9y = - 17

Using the value of x from first equation and substituting it in second equation, we get:

4(12+y)+9y=-17 \\ \\ 48+4y+9y=-17 \\ \\ 13y=-65 \\ \\ y=-5

Using this value of y in first equation to find x:

x=12+y=12+(-5) \\ \\ x=12-5 \\ \\ x=7

Therefore, the solution to the given equation is (7, -5)
