I would say that Edward Hirsch writing the poem Fast Break in one long sentence has the effect of having us sit on the edge of our seats to see what the next move is and the effect is like the basketball game flowing continuously without a break until finally a basket is made and it also keeps us in suspense waiting for the outcome.
