The answer would be Westerners would lose trading rights if the Qing dynasty fell. Because before the Taiping Rebellion the European countries like France and Great Britain was able to garner and receive trading rights in China and if the dynasty would fall it would cause a trade deficit in China and if the Taiping Rebellion would be successful new diplomatic mission would happened and need another few years to secure trading rights again.
