The answer would be: d. 17
There are 17 babies out of every thousand that was born as intersex. Intersex can be defined as having a sex characteristic that wasn't exclusive male or exclusive female. The genotype of an intersex wouldn't be a male XY or female XX. This result in a different kind of external and internal genitalia development.

According to Fausto-Sterling, 1.7% or 17 out of every one thousand babies are born intersex. He adds that most believe that there are only two sexes but 17 out of 1000 babies born cannot be categorized as either female or male.

The answer is then D.
