In what way does the Thirteenth Amendment expand on the Emancipation Proclamation?

Hey there,

Lincoln recognized that the Emancipation Proclamation would have to be followed by a constitutional amendment in order to guarantee the establishment of slavery, so the 13th amendment was eventually passed on at the end of the Civil War before the Southern states had even started to restore the Union.
