Because the treaty ending the British involvement in the United States during the War of 1812 was signed so Britain and America were no longer at war when the battle happened. So thousands more died for something that never should've happened.

Hiya!
The battle of New Orleans was unnecessary because the treaty of Ghent, which ended the war, was just signed two weeks before the battle of New Orleans happened!
