Histamine is a molecule which has a role in releasing gastric acid in the stomach. Histamine is released from the ECL cells (in gastric glands) and stimulates parietal cells(secrete HCl). As a result, the pH of the stomach starts to decrease, which is a signal for digestive enzymes to work.
